Today Full HD is the absolute minimum to support. HD ready: 1280 x 720 (these type of VGA monitors are long time technical obsolete)įull HD: 1920 x 1080 (old standard for musicians, Wide is the coming standard)ĤK: 3840 x 2160 (typical for prof. I saw the proposal "we can now go to 1000x750"Ĭhanging only to support obsolete "HD ready" screen resolution? Then your plugin use less than 50% of Full HD. Your Interface on a 4K Screen have the size of two cigarette packet.
We need bigger Knobs, Sliders, Text, Menus etc. If Kontakt could just have a 'resize' option, for itself not even its libraries, it'd be great.Ģ020 is coming and the Kontakt GUI is like 90s. Cubase on the other hand is reasonable resized. So extra small GUIs like Kontakt are an issue.

One cap from Cubase one from Studio One.Įverything normally looks fine because Windows 225% scaling settings affect it BUT the GUIs in Studio One aren't affected at this time by Windows Scaling. Cubase is responding to Windows Scaling settings as far as I can tell.Ĭubase though has other severe GUI problems for me, which make me hesitate to think of switching, its GUI flips out when I load certain plugins.Īnyway here're two screen cap examples of what Kontakt looks like on my 43" 3840x2160 monitor, in Windows 10. I trialed Cubase recently and Cubase resized the Kontakt GUI to be reasonably sized, while my main DAW Studio One does not do so, and leaves it at near microscopic levels. Still very attractive for electronic composers with molekular, razor, the verb and vintage effects that are all pricey on their own so depending what you are really attracted by after testing, buy the crossgrade during summer promotions can be a great bargain.īut surely if you really have the use of those, this is not a bad investment at all !.I can see how this issue gets swept under the rug, people not using higher resolution monitors might not have it, people using different DAWs might not have it, so my guess is that developers aren't at all feeling the mini sized Kontakt pains many people are. Ultimate is really made for composers who look for a cheaper but good quality solution (or just more choice).

The session horns pro is excellent but same here, you need to have a use of it. As D One said the rise and hits is kind of cinematic sounds that is really impressive also the action strikes for the big cinematic drums that sound really great but you must have a use of it. Molekular is really original and if you like it all the Abbey Road drums are amazing for musical composition. What I really liked from ultimate is razor, all the vintage effect serie, rc verbs that sound great even if a bit CPU intense for my old mac. Maybe when the next numbered version comes out.

I'd just start with that and upgrade later, if needed. the regular K11 is already overkill, where I've had it for a year and still haven't touched like half of it. Else you just wind up with an empty bankaccount and a folder full of stuff where you have no idea what it really can do. Better to get a single set of decent ones and then only expand it when you feel like you're really bottlenecking somewhere. Getting shitloads of VST's in one go is ALWAYS a bad idea.
Still looking for some others like Molekular and the Premium Tube stuff, but with those I don't know what else I'd really want. Supercharger is worth expanding, Replika as well.
I don't need a lot of acoustic strings and things like that.īut I have been able to snag up some the bits I want on the open market. K11U does have some very cool bits, but for me.
